Departmental Description

The Build department at Red Box is instrumental in delivering high quality products to end customers and providing additional support to customers where hardware is involved.  The Build department integrates tightly with the IT team to provide support to the internal user base as and when required

Role Description

We are seeking a Production Administrator who has drive, customer relationship skills, passion for technology and the ability to plan effectively.  The role represents a unique opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark in an ambitious and successful business.

To ensure the production of hardware recorders for orders in timely manner.  Maintain stock at agreed levels and carry out stock takes. Support staff in their day-to-day use of IT systems.

 

Reporting Line

This role reports to Head of Information Technology

 

Primary Responsibilities

As a Production & Information Technology Technician your main responsibilities would include:

  • Build custom servers to ISO standards, including installation, configurations, application testing and license.
  • Document and keep accurate records of all servers built.
  • Package and track hardware required for orders.
  • Booking in of goods, maintain and manage stock to identified levels.
  • Packing and labelling of shipments.
  • Work with other departments to deliver the best solution to the customer
  • Act as a point of contact for the Red Box Support team for hardware faults or replacement.
  • Order stock and work closely with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
  • Participate in monthly stock checks and rectify any issues that arise
  • Participate in yearly ISO audits for quality and information security
  • Work in a timely manner to ensure the objectives of the day are completed and any risk to non-completion is communicated.
  • Evaluate new hardware solutions from various vendors to keep hardware standards current and supported
  • Assist the wider IT team with general IT tasks as and when required
  • Any other activities or tasks as reasonably delegated by the Head of Information Technology.

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Able to lift and carry heavy hardware components appropriately during the build and dispatch process in line with manual handling training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to demonstrate the following:
    • Understanding of server hardware components.
    • Competent use of IT software.
    • Installation and maintenance of Windows Server operating systems.
    • High level of interpersonal skills.
    • Previous experience in a customer driven environment.
    • Problem solving ability.
    • Able to prioritise work and remain effective under pressure.
  • Ideally at least 2 years carrying out similar activities.

Desirable:

  • Experience of telephony and VoIP telephone systems
  • Exposure to IT standards such as ISO 9000/27001 and ITIL
  • Exposure to Linux operating systems and virtualisation technologies
  • Basic IT certification such as:
    • A+
    • N+
    • ITIL

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) 

Maintaining Stock levels.

Production of Recorders with agreed time frames for shipping.

Maintaining ISO9000/27001 checks within ISO standards.

Keeping IT tickets with set SLA.
