Role Description

As a Management Accountant, you will play a vital role to support the company’s finance tasks. The primary function of the role is to ensure the timely, efficient and accurate processing of management accounts and ensuring data on the finance system is accurate. You will also manage external returns such as VAT and EC Sales.


Reporting Line

Reporting to the Financial Controller.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Preparing the month end management accounts and analysing variances
  • Providing a brief commentary for any variances against the forecast
  • Managing the VAT return and EC sales list and submitting using Making Tax Digital
  • Whilst preparing the management accounts you will be responsible for bank reconciliation, prepayments, accruals, Expense posting, revaluations of foreign accounts and closing month end on sage
  • Stock take and COGS, adjusting stock on sage
  • Managing Purchase ledger
  • Assisting with Sales order processing at month end
  • Reporting CAPEX spend
  • Managing complex deferred income spreadsheets
  • Other ad-hoc tasks



Educated to A level or equivalent with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade C or above including English and Maths.


Skills & Experience


  • Sage 200 experience
  • Previous experience of producing management accounts and variance analysis
  • Must have a good eye for detail and accurate data input
  • Able to do formulas and pivots using Excel
  • VAT return experience
  • Foreign Exchange


  • Technical background – experience of stock/component
  • Capex Reporting
  • Ability to prioritise work and remain effective under pressure. To meet monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
